How many pages should a small-business website have?

Enough to answer distinct customer decisions well without creating thin pages simply to make the site look larger.

There is no universal ideal page count. A focused professional-services firm may need seven excellent pages. A multi-location company with several services may need dozens.

Begin with the essential pages

Separate services when the decision changes

If customers search for, evaluate, or purchase two services differently, each service probably deserves its own page. Separate pages create room for specific questions and proof.

Add location pages only when they are genuinely local

A useful location page needs distinct service information, local proof, coverage details, and a relevant contact path. Swapping a city name into otherwise identical text does not create value.

Publish insights that support real questions

Articles should help the audience understand a problem, compare approaches, or prepare for a decision. They should also connect naturally to a relevant service.

Quality sets the pace

Launch the smallest complete structure, then add pages as you have enough expertise, evidence, and search opportunity to make each one useful.

A sensible starting structure: homepage, three service pages, About, Contact, Case Studies, and an Insights hub. This is the structure used for this Echo South redesign.
